Project Overview
We are seeking an experienced Product Management Consultant to step into an ongoing project within one of our development teams, Create.
The team is responsible for building a next-generation CMS (Content Management System) for digital news article production.
The Create team has been working on replacing the legacy CMS with a new modern version. This has been a challenging, multi-year project, but is now in the rollout phase. While the rollout is progressing, it requires balancing support for the old system with deploying the new one, alongside adjustments to newsroom workflows and specific feature requests from individual newsrooms.
With the current Product Manager transitioning to a new internal role, we are looking to bring in a consultant to support the team during this critical period.
Main Objective
The primary goal of this engagement is to support the team in working better with development processes and alignment across Product and UX in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.
The focus will be on management and team alignment rather than purely product development.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the Engineering Manager to improve development processes and team collaboration.
Work with the Head of Product to clarify role definitions, particularly between Product and UX, and help define the optimal team structure moving forward.
Oversee ongoing development and ensure smooth onboarding of newsrooms to the new CMS. A part of this will be to plan and prioritize ongoing development work in two-week sprints. A second part will be to facilitate the newsroom steering group.
Communicate progress and updates to newsrooms and other stakeholders.
If time/right profile: Re-align the team around a clear vision for the product, ensuring
both product and UX priorities are well integrated.
Ideal Profile
● Strong people management skills, with the ability to act as a neutral party in a team that has faced challenges.
● Strong understanding of both product and UX perspectives, with the ability to mediate and align conflicting priorities.
● Proven ability to integrate into a team working on the ongoing development of a critical system with multiple stakeholders.
Duration
The initial contract will be for 4-5 months.
